Earlier this month we announced about Jolita Jewellery's and Mary’s Living and Giving boutique for Save The Children Charity collaboration. Jolita Jewellery designer Algis Abromaitis to hold four workshops for beginners in jewellery making, commencing on 14th of September 2010.

The workshops have been postponed for a couple of weeks and we still have a few spots available. Jolita Jewellery workshops for Save the Children charity start 14th of September




Mary’s Living and Giving boutique for Save The Children Charity has teamed up with Jolita Jewellery designer Algis Abromaitis to hold four workshops for beginners in jewellery making, commencing on 14th of September 2010. All profits will go to Save the Children charity which is focusing on saving children’s lives around the world.

Workshops are priced at £100 per person for four evenings.

They will be held every Tuesday for four consecutive evenings from 18.00 – 20.30 at the Notting Hill Shop in London at 177 Westbourne Grove, Westbourne Grove, London W11 2SB, tel. 0207 727 6166.

Basic stringing materials, findings, beads and tools will be provided as well as refreshments. Participants are encouraged to bring their own beads and also old, unwanted or broken jewellery which could be re-worked into new wearable pieces. In addition to provided basics there will be an opportunity to buy more expensive beads such as semi precious stones, pearls, etc. at wholesale prices.

During the workshops students will learn how to make necklaces, bracelets, earrings, various types of materials to be used in jewellery making as well as how and where to shop for beads, tools and clasps. Students will also be provided a list of further references books and periodicals to continue learning on their own.

At the end of the course all students will leave with their hand-made jewellery pieces.

Here’s a more detailed plan of the classes:

WORKSHOP 1 - September 14th

* introduction to jewellery making
* overview of different stringing materials, tools, findings and various types of beads and where to shop for them
* make a necklace


WORKSHOP 2 - September 21st

* carry on/finish making a necklace
* overview of various earwires, where to shop for them, different types of earrings
* make a pair of earrings


WORKSHOP 3 - September 28th

* make a more complicated necklace - two or more strands or make a charm bracelet
* various techniques for attaching charms to a bracelet or a necklace
* choose your final project


WORKSHOP 4 - October 5th

* make a piece or pieces of your choice implementing the learned techniques

These workshops are a perfect way to take up a new hobby, spend quality time with your friends learn something new or simply unwind after a hard day in the office.
