This spring/summer everything is about colours. Saturated brights have been spilling from catwalks and boutiques onto the streets. Clothes, shoes, accessories have all been painted in neon and electric tones.

Inspired by the myriad of colours fashion stylist Paula Gayle has teamed up with photographer Mary Spencer to work on a colour themed photo shoot ‘Colours’. We are very excited to see some of Jolita Jewellery pieces that made it to the shoot and wanted to share those with You.

Bluemarine bangle is made with vintage crystals and colourful silk. The piece incorporates various recycled components, chains, Swarovski crystals, broken, unwanted and reclaimed materials. Sparkles beautifully in the sun shine!

Mourning necklace is made by hand braiding turquoise faux silk onto a vintage crystal necklace. Adorned with three gold plated skulls at the center of the piece it makes quite a statement!

Embellished with hematite beads and colourful Swarovski crystals the pink coral Never Apart ring is a true show stopper. Skulls represent our mortality as well as transient nature of all things material.The body of the ring is made to resemble crushed spider web and has been handcrafted with finest silk by using ancient weaving and knotting techniques. A truly lavish adornment!

And last but not least – Oak necklace. Made with vintage chains, buttons, odd earrings, brooches and restored crystals it is as unique as the materials used to marry all components into one wearable piece.

This week at Boticca starts with anything that resembles fringe. We are extremely delighted to see that even three Jolita Jewellery’s pieces made it to the editor's picks. They are very different yet very much 'fringe'.

First - a one-of-a-kind statement bib necklace Demi necklace made using myriad of vintage brass chains and braided crystal necklace from 1930's found in Portobello market, London.

Second - a pair of truly daring and glamorous Skull earrings . Made with restored vintage crystal motifs and finely carved black bone skulls these earrings drop down to 13cm.

And last, but not least - our chunky one-of-a-kind aged sterling silver bracelet with braided dip-dyed cotton. The spring has arrived to London and it’s hard not to notice the splash of colours spilling from the pages of fashion magazines and shops onto the streets.

To celebrate the cometh of the warmer season, the beautiful sunshine and the blue skies Jolita Jewellery created a number of bracelets in multitude of colours.

The pieces are handcrafted combining semi-precious stones, Swarovski crystals, freshwater pearls and finished with braided silk.

Rio bangle features white hand-carved lotus flower beads braided with bright red silk. Ibiza bangle is made of faux chrysocolla and Swarovski crystals.

Earlier this month we announced about Jolita Jewellery's and Mary’s Living and Giving boutique for Save The Children Charity collaboration. Jolita Jewellery designer Algis Abromaitis to hold four workshops for beginners in jewellery making, commencing on 14th of September 2010.

The workshops have been postponed for a couple of weeks and we still have a few spots available. Jolita Jewellery workshops for Save the Children charity start 14th of September

Mary’s Living and Giving boutique for Save The Children Charity has teamed up with Jolita Jewellery designer Algis Abromaitis to hold four workshops for beginners in jewellery making, commencing on 14th of September 2010. All profits will go to Save the Children charity which is focusing on saving children’s lives around the world.

Workshops are priced at £100 per person for four evenings.

They will be held every Tuesday for four consecutive evenings from 18.00 – 20.30 at the Notting Hill Shop in London at 177 Westbourne Grove, Westbourne Grove, London W11 2SB, tel. 0207 727 6166.

Basic stringing materials, findings, beads and tools will be provided as well as refreshments. Participants are encouraged to bring their own beads and also old, unwanted or broken jewellery which could be re-worked into new wearable pieces. In addition to provided basics there will be an opportunity to buy more expensive beads such as semi precious stones, pearls, etc. at wholesale prices.

During the workshops students will learn how to make necklaces, bracelets, earrings, various types of materials to be used in jewellery making as well as how and where to shop for beads, tools and clasps. Students will also be provided a list of further references books and periodicals to continue learning on their own.

At the end of the course all students will leave with their hand-made jewellery pieces.

Here’s a more detailed plan of the classes:

WORKSHOP 1 - September 14th

* introduction to jewellery making
* overview of different stringing materials, tools, findings and various types of beads and where to shop for them
* make a necklace

WORKSHOP 2 - September 21st

* carry on/finish making a necklace
* overview of various earwires, where to shop for them, different types of earrings
* make a pair of earrings

WORKSHOP 3 - September 28th

* make a more complicated necklace - two or more strands or make a charm bracelet
* various techniques for attaching charms to a bracelet or a necklace
* choose your final project

WORKSHOP 4 - October 5th

* make a piece or pieces of your choice implementing the learned techniques

Jolita Jewellery is very excited to announce our collaboration with “Save the Children Charity” shop, revamped by the queen of the shops Mary Portas. The charity is focusing on saving children’s lives around the world.

After successful permanent shop in Stockbridge, Scotland and a pop-up shop in London’s Westfield Shopping center a new permanent shop opened in a trendy Westbourne Grove area.

We are working hard creating new quirky pieces for the boutique. And we are also very excited to start workshops of jewellery making for beginners in the month of September. Clothes Live Show has long gone and we were very happy to meet loads of new people and spread the word about our label. The customers had an opportunity to chat with the designer behind Jolita Jewellery brand – Algis Abromaitis. But most of all we were delighted with the positive feedback we received about our jewellery.

There were several pieces that seemed to really catch everyone’s eye and all of them had one distinctive feature – a flower handcrafted by ourselves. The base is made of turquoise that has been assembled into petals of a flower. The middle is decorated with a variety of beads ranging from Swarovski crystals to coral, hematite, freshwater pearls and others. An array of colours used to craft the flower adds more quirkiness to each piece. And if you want to add more edge to your outfit, why not go for a flower bracelet, decorated with gold plated skulls. A true show stopper!

It’s been a while since we posted on our blog. However it’s not because nothing was happening, on the contrary, we’ve been very busy.

In the past several months Jolita Jewellery participated in several sales events, acquired new stockists, moved the website (still work in progress!), redefined all collections, designed a new logo to represent the brand, learned new skills, created new stunning pieces and more.

We have also been showcasing and selling our pieces via Not Just A Label online boutique, which is visited by “industry’s participants and fashionistas alike to access the ideas of tomorrow’s designers”. Our day at Liberty's

It was a day of “Best of British”. An event organised by Liberty's in search of new and emerging designers.

Although the start of the event was announced to be 10am, we arrived at 9am to discover there was a long queue of designers. Everyone bought their creations that ranged from clothes and accessories to lampshades and dolls.

After a very long queuing at 2.30 pm we have finally reached the area where the panel of buyers was meeting the talents.

Another 20 min passed and our time came. After a short introduction of Jolita Jewellery brand all our pieces were laid out on a table.

Although everything happened incredibly quickly, the feedback we received sounded promising. We were told that our pieces are "definitely of interest" and that we now should be waiting to hear from Liberty.

Tomorrow (Saturday) is a very exciting day for Jolita Jewellery as we are participating in Best of British Open Call day that was organised by Liberty. It's a great honour and we are very excited.

We are packing our best pieces with us to show to the panel of judges. Quirky unisex and women's necklaces and bracelets made of recycled silver, vintage finds, semi preciuos stones, freshwater pearls and other materials will be shown to the panel of judges.

Jolita Jewellery collaboration with Oxfam

Jolita Jewellery has collaborated with Oxfam boutique and created a collection of pieces from donated jewellery.

Broken chain cuff links, brooches, odd earrings and damaged necklaces: all were used to produce novel pieces.

First collection went quickly and a second one was handcrafted for your enjoyment. Jewellery is sold in Oxfam boutique on 432 Kings Road, SW10 0LJ.

The news caught an eye of several fashion websites and Jolita Jewellery was featured on Seeking Designers and Apparel News.

Jolita Jewellery will be featured in a fashion magazine from New York

Recently a fashion magazine from New York Antenna got in touch with us asking if we could lend our pieces for the photo shoot. They were looking for pieces with animal theme and asked for something "fierce".

We decided that our animal skull and eagle necklaces were a perfect fit.

So we dispatched the pieces for next day's delivery to the offices of Antenna in New York.
Pieces successfully made the journey, reached New York, took part in a photo shoot and returned back to London.

The jewellery will be featured in Antenna 's summer issue and we are eagerly anticipating for the issue to come out.
